Quitter…

with 5 comments

I’m a quitter (so far)!  I’ve made it almost 24 hours without a cigarette.  It’s hard now that I’m at home where I smoke most but, according to experts my blood oxygen level will have increased to normal and carbon monoxide levels will have dropped to normal. However, tonight anxieties peak in intensity and within two weeks should return to near pre-cessation levels.

Are you looking forward to seeing me at work tomorrow? Here’s what you can look forward to: Damaged nerve endings have started to regrow and your sense of smell and taste are beginning to return to normal. Cessation anger and irritability peaks.

I don’t normally eat dinner but I was starving on the way home from work.  I whipped up some beef curry with snow peas, carrots and turnips.  It’s served over konjac noodles. It was quite good.

p.s. I had a pink lady apple and about 8-10 olives during the day today.

  1. That freakin ROCKS! So proud of you. I don’t know from experience, but I remember how hard it was for my Mom to quit way back in the day. Proud Proud Proud!

That’s truly great keep it up!!

  2. As a previous 2-1/2 packs per day chain smoker for too many years to count, CONGRATS!!! One step at a time and don’t you dare get suckered into the “maybe just one” syndrome (that got me a couple of times before I wised up).

Me? I cheated. My doctor had prescribed Zyban and I went cold turkey in two weeks. You are taking a much more honorable path to a long and healthy life. Kudos, kudos, kudos!

    • Chucky, using Zyban is not cheating – it’s doing what you’ve got to do to get the job done. Quitting is what counts – not how you got there. 😀 This challenge is for 30 days and I have absolutely no intention of straying from the path, so hopefully, all urges for even “just this one” will be obliterated by then.

  4. Thanks, y’all! This morning was more difficult than yesterday morning in the car. I’m also kinda grumpy this morning. 🙂 But trying to get over it – this is temporary and it is the right thing to do. I truly appreciate all your support!
